Chamber's Vision, Value & Purpose
Today, as
Bronzeville restructures this Vibrant changing metropolis, we must
outline and define our value and assess this magnificent growth cycle. We
dare not stand still, while this rebirth movement shifts. So, Step
Aboard! The movement needs you today !
No longer can we walk or swagger
with blind expectancy, led only by our passion. We must join up with an
organization, such as the Bronzeville Chamber of Commerce, to register
that vision and interact with others to bring about significant change.
The purpose of the Chamber is to accent the unified voice of our business
community, while posturing as a salesman for the business area, by
uniting and networking businesses, while providing information access and
political advocacy, particularly, where there is a political divide. Our
most active members enhance their community image, increase business
referrals and receive other valued expressions.
Your Support is necessary in
order to make that value, vision and purpose, impacting and effective.
Committees, Workshops, Seminars, special events promotions and empowering
sessions to promote good will in the area are always an ongoing project.
A primary advantage of membership includes personal image enhancement,
community involvement, member business referrals, advertising and
publicity by serving on committees... or our board of directors.
Interested in becoming a player?
Additionally, our chamber is establishing
a working relationship with other area merchant organizations,
associations, block clubs, churches and social groups to form a common
bond. In the 2nd quarter, our chamber will officially organize About
Us", an amalgamated body of community groups, who
willpartner, bond and link together on various social, political,
educational and select community projects for our Bronzeville citizenry.
We encourage businesses, Individuals, associations and community groups
to join the Chamber today, as this important spirit of Bronzeville link,
About Us, is constructed. Our work has only just begun and your support
is expected. Sign up for your membership today on our web site at www.bronzevillechamber.com and
consider volunteering for our "we love Bronzeville", Chamber of
Commerce support group. Let's Do It... together!today,
tomorrow and always...with a teeming spirit!

Catch the Bronzeville Wave~
We're
growing with your help. The Bronzeville Chamber of Commerce was
born in the Fall of 2004, just 5 months ago, yet we are making our mark,
due to your contribution and support. During this short time we have
taken great strides toward becoming a worthy contributor to the promise
of a strong and vibrant Bronzeville. These next few months are critical
for building momentum for the Chamber movement. As a galvanizing force
for building human capital, business stability, and community capacity,
the Chamber welcomes all individuals and leaders who wish to shape a
common vision for the future development of our business community.
Our
goal is to have 300 Plus members by the end of 2005. The Chamber
leadership is currently introducing our organization to community
institutions, political leaders, major corporations, and other
businesses, But, we cannot do it alone. Each member must be commited to joining
the Bronzeville Chamber of Commerce President's Me Two Club by
sponsoring 2 new members in 2 months. Board and committee chairs are
asked to step up their beat with a commitment of 5 new members in 5
months. The community is already abuzz with the promise of things to
come. Let's make sure there is a thriving Chamber there to greet the
rebirth of this historic community. Today, we can have a head start with
your commitment!

· BRONZEVILLE PHOTOS?
|
|
|
An area publisher is seeking
photos for an initial 10,000-run chronicle of the 1950s, covering
America's social, political, and cultural history during the decade.
Images that capture the essence of Bronzeville in the early 1950s,
including thriving street scenes of people going to work, church,
theatre, night clubs, etc. are strongly desired.
The publisher is requesting
non-exclusive, one-time rights for use in this publication and any
subsequent editions. Digital images such as 300dpi tif (or jpeg) on CD or
uploaded to their FTP server are preferred. They may also be able to use
slides or 8 x 10 photo prints. Please call, 773-268-1800, or email, brvlchamber@aol.com,
the Chamber if you would like to share your photos for the chronicle.

· Bronzeville: An UNTAPPED Market
|
|
|
We've all noticed the intense
development of housing units in Bronzeville. All that activity has
promising implications for the business community. For example, in the
area bounded by 37th Street on the north, 51st on the south, Lake Shore
Drive on the east and the Dan Ryan on the west, the concentration of
buying power is over $191 million per square mile -- $35 million above
Chicago's average! On the downside, more than $450 million per year
leaves the area because of the lack of retailers.
These statistics and many more
come from a Quad Communities Development Corporation (QCDC) market
analysis report. The QCDC report provides evidence for what we've been
observing for a while. Bronzeville is a "hot" community.
Despite that, commercial development has not yet caught up with the
community's needs. The Chamber is vital to helping Bronzeville make the
transition from a speculator's dream to a well-served community. We must
work to articulate a vision for this area that is inclusive and
progressively works toward building a strong business community.
